Coastal States discuss management of mackerel for 2014

A meeting of Coastal States on mackerel (European Union, Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway) took place in London on October 23 and 24, under the chairmanship of the European Union.

This coastal states meeting aimed at discussing the management measures for 2014 for the mackerel stock in the North-East Atlantic.

Commissioner Damanaki stated on this occasion: “I very much welcome the positive nature of these discussions and consider that, in view of the more optimistic scientific advice, there is now a window of opportunity for reaching agreement on resolving the long-standing dispute between the Parties on this very important fish stock.”
