Welcome to my webpage. I would like to use this space to share with you how I plan to act out my mandate over the coming years. As I had the opportunity to explain during my hearing at the European Parliament, the premise that will guide my actions over the next five years can be summarised into one simple phrase "Patients first!, Consumers first!". Obtaining a better standard of living and protecting the citizens of Europe is at the core of the portfolio of health and consumer policy, and my aim is to continue working on what has already been achieved and to continue to translate the Commission's work into concrete benefits for our citizens.
Healthy living and wellbeing in general, access to first class health care, well-informed and well-protected consumers and the world's highest standards for animal health and welfare remain core European values. The European Union can be proud of them and we have to, not only continue to preserve them, but to do everything in our power to further develop these values. At the same time, we must respond to the important challenges facing us such as ageing, climate change and new health risks.
I am enthusiastic to take up this challenge, in close cooperation with all the partners - the European Parliament, the Member States and the various stakeholders and remain fully committed to ensuring that health and consumer policy continues to receive the required political attention over the next five years.
