Dacian Cioloş visited the AGRARIA fair in Cluj-Napoca
Commissioner Dacian Cioloş was in Cluj, Romania, from 6 to 7 May 2011.
The European official met the Romanian Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Valeriu Tabără, visited the International fair of agriculture and food industry AGRARIA and participated in the conference "The Common agriculture policy and the academic agronomic education" organized by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca. The Commissioner also had a meeting with the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Sorin Apostu.
"The future Common agriculture policy will support an enhanced dialogue between academia, research and farmers and will promote knowledge based agriculture. This will play a central role in the future rural development policy and will include agricultural research, training and advice for farmers, a better link between innovation and agricultural research", said commissioner Cioloş opening the USAMV conference.
Visiting the AGRARIA fair with Minister Valeriu Tabără, commissioner Cioloş discussed with farmer's representatives, producers and exhibitors at the fair, tasted some local products and, stopping for a while at the DG AGRI stand, he participated at a quiz about European policies.
