Grant award ceremony for beneficiaries of EU grant schemes "Improving agricultural production" and "Supporting rural enterprise". 188 Turkish Cypriot farmers and rural enterprises have been awarded EU funding to help bring their operation in line with EU standards and best practices.
State aid: Commission authorises temporary Belgian scheme to grant limited amounts of aid of up to €15,000 to farmers

The European Commission authorised a Belgian scheme with a budget of €2.73 million which aims at supporting farmers in Flanders who encounter difficulties as a result of the current economic crisis. Aid under this scheme can be granted until 31 December 2010 and will take the form of interest subsidies and guarantees.
Commissioner Cioloş in Spain: "We need an extensive public debate for a reformed, better tailored CAP"

The new Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Dacian Cioloş has taken his first official trip in his new capacity to Spain – the country that holds the Presidency of the EU Council for the first half of the year.
Commissioner Cioloş met the Minister of Environment, Rural and Marine Environment, Mrs. Elena Espinosa Mangana. They discussed various issues, in particular the future of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2013, competitiveness of the agro-food industry, the future strategy EU 2020 and the priorities of the Spanish Presidency in the agricultural field.
