    According to the latest Monthly Labour Market Fact Sheet published by the European Commission, the EU average unemployment rate stood at 9.3%, the same level as in April but down 0.4 percentage point (pp) compared to May 2010.

    The European Commission has approved an application from France for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). The € 24 493 525 was requested by the French authorities to help 3,582 workers made redundant by Renault - and seven of its subsidiaries and downstream producers - back into work.
