    The European Commission approved four applications from the Netherlands for assistance from the EU Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). The applications will now be put before the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union for decision.

    EU Employment and Social Policy Ministers met on 17 June in Luxembourg. They debated its contribution to the European Council of 23/24 June and reached a general approach on recommendations on national employment policies. They also adopted conclusions on: reconciliation of work and family life in the context of demographic change, youth employment, disability and child poverty.

    The European Commission has approved two applications from Austria for assistance from the EU Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). The €9 506 036 requested by the Austrian authorities will help 356 former workers in basic metal enterprises and 74 redundant workers from a leading Printed Circuit Board manufacturer (PCB) to find new jobs.
