The Council discussed the draft directive on maternity leave and adopted conclusions on: gender equality, the social dimension in the framework of the Europe 2020 Strategy, adequate and sustainable pensions. Ministers adopted a general approach on a draft decision declaring 2012 as the year of active ageing and a declaration to mark the closing of the 2010 European Year.
