In Brussels today, Commissioner László Andor spoke at the Microsoft event on how information and communication technologies (ICT) can fuel the EU economy. He outlined the “huge potential in working together and harnessing both public and private resources to get through the crisis and ensure a job-rich growth”.

Visiting a project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) in Regensburg, Commissioner László Andor praised the use of the Fund in Bavaria to help employees tailor their qualifications to match the changing demands of the workplace and called for "stepping up efforts to increase the number of employed ", in line with Europe 2020 objectives.

According to the new EU Employment and Social Situation Quarterly Review, the modest labour market recovery stopped in the third quarter of 2011 with a drop by 0.1 %.
