Visiting Berlin, Commissioner László Andor took part in a lively debate on "Free movement of workers and the end of the transitional arrangements".
EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, László Andor, met today with the President of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Geoană, to discuss employment issues linked to the EU's Europe 2020 strategy, as well as labour law and social affairs.

Speaking at a Ministerial conference in Bratislava on the impact of the crisis on employment and labour market recovery, László Andor EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion stressed the need for Member States "to restructure their labour markets and ensure skills are in line with demand". The Commissioner underlined, in particular, the importance of "building solid partnerships between workers and employers, but also between governments at EU, national and local level".
Following the Employment and Social Affairs Ministers' meeting in Brussels, Commissioner Andor presented the first summary of results of the EU-wide Green Paper consultation on how the EU can help to ensure adequate, sustainable and safe pensions for its citizens.
Athens, March 4th 2011 - As part of his campaign to raise awareness about the opportunities about how the EU's Europe 2020 strategy can help improve the employment situation across the EU, Commissioner László Andor spoke at the Greek Parliament's Standing Committee on Social Affairs and Special Standing Committee on European Affairs, in Athens.
