The global treaty to fight climate change – the Kyoto Protocol – expires in 2012. World leaders are meeting in Copenhagen in December to agree on a follow-up treaty, and the clock is ticking. The EU wants an ambitious, global and comprehensive agreement to prevent the world warming by more than 2ºC, and to ensure that economic growth becomes sustainable.
