The European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) hosted a roundtable on 16 and 17 October 2013 in Brussels, with Latin America and the Caribbean to advance climate change policy dialogue among the regions, identify concrete ways of integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation into economic development strategies and explore possible areas of cooperation.

The event allowed EU and LAC stakeholders – diplomats and domestic policy practitioners – to engage in informal discussions on joint challenges and approaches by looking at key themes in the international climate arena. The deliberations provided a useful opportunity to explore common ground and ways for effectively advancing the climate cooperation between the EU and LAC.

The roundtable followed similar events for Africa held in October 2011 and for Asia-Pacific held in June 2012.
