This flyer contains general information on the EU-programme Europe for Citizens and information on the support of civil society projects in the strand Democratic engagement and civic participation (strand 2). It presents two projects that are being implemented between 2015 and 2017 to illustrate how activities in this strand can look like.

The brochure about »Active Citizens for Europe« features various authors addressing the development and potentials of twinning towns in Europe. It also offers insights into a selection of citizens meetings and net-works of twinned towns which have received funding from the programme Europe for Citizens between 2010 and 2014. The brochure was published by the Europe for Citizens Point Germany (Kontaktstelle »Europa für Bürgerinnen und Bürger«) and the German Section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) in 2012.

In the brochure about »Active civil society in Germany« various authors deal with the relationship of civil society and government and the role of civil society in Europe, the EU institutions’ expectations on the or-ganised civil society as well as the necessary conditions of civic participation in Europe. It also gives impres-sions of several civil society projects that have been co-funded by the EU between 2007 and 2010. The Europe for Citizens Contact Point Germany (Kontaktstelle Deutschland »Europa für Bürgerinnen und Bürger«) and the Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement (BBE) published this brochure in 2010.

This brochure firstly provides general information and analytical essays on »active European Remembrance«. In a second part, descriptions of activities carried out between 2007 and 2012, their aims and results illustrate what kinds of projects had been co-funded by the EU. The Europe for Citizens Contact Point Germany (Kontaktstelle Deutschland »Europa für Bürgerinnen und Bürger«) published the second edition of this brochure in 2011.
