Subject-matter: Convidamos a Comissão Europeia a propor legislação que implemente o direito humano à água e ao saneamento, tal como reconhecido pelas Nações Unidas, e a promover o suprimento de água e saneamento como serviços públicos essenciais para todos.
Main objectives: A legislação da UE deve exigir aos governos que assegurem e proporcionem a todos os cidadãos água potável suficiente e limpa, bem como saneamento. Instamos a que: 1. As instituições da UE e os Estados-Membros sejam obrigados a assegurar que todos os habitantes desfrutem de água e saneamento. 2. O fornecimento de água e a gestão dos recursos hídricos não sejam sujeitos às “regras do mercado interno” e os serviços de abastecimento de água sejam excluídos da liberalização. 3. A UE aumente os seus esforços no sentido de alcançar o acesso universal a água e saneamento.
