18th International Conference on Integrated Care: great participation at Chafea's Implementation Rooms

The European Commission's Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (Chafea) carries out a series of activities to widely disseminate the results of the EU Health Programme at local, regional, national and EU levels.

In collaboration with the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Food Safety, Chafea organised a series of seminars on integrated care implementation, the so-called Implementation Rooms, within the 18th International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC18) in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on 23-25 May 2018. These built on experience from last year at Implementation Rooms and on the work of EU Health Programme actions, such as Act@Scale and SCIROCCO, JA HWF and the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA).

Over the three days of ICIC18, each of the five Implementation Rooms focused on one of the following building blocks and success factors, which also relate to EU Health Programme actions:

  • Designing strategies and models for integrated care
  • Engaging and educating the care workforce in new roles
  • Transferring knowledge and good practices
  • Financing and contractual models
  • Assessing and evaluating integrated care

The discussions were very engaging with over an hour dedicated to dialogue and exchanges of views on the sensitive topic of integrated care. Participants discussed openly about implementation and shared their experiences on integrated care, an ever challenging topic that has been on healthcare agendas for quite some time.
