The EU's high-level group on own resources
The high-level group on own resources has been formally established by the Presidents of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on 25 February 2014.
The group has been set up to study the current system of income to the EU budget. It is expected to suggest possible improvements to that system. The main aim of the group is to explore ways to make the system simpler, fairer, more transparent and more democratically accountable.
The group will undertake a general review of the current own resources system and issue a first assessment at the end of 2014, taking into account all existing and forthcoming input from the three European institutions and national parliaments.
