Brussels, 27-28 February 2012
Over the past twelve months the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Budget (DG Budget) has compiled a compendium covering 27 contributions from all Member States. The compendium describes the essential characteristics of the Member States' public sector internal control systems. SIGMA ("Support for Improvement in Governance and Management", a joint initiative of the OECD and the European Union, principally financed by the EU) has made an analysis overview of these contributions that is part of the compendium.
DG Budget's initiative follows the main recommendation of the 2009 Conference on assessing the value of the introduction of Public internal financial control (PIFC).
To share the publication content and promote good practice examples, the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Budget (DG Budget) will host a conference on Public Internal Control (PIC), which takes place in Brussels between 27 and 28 February 2012.
