Conferences and workshops
BEPA is an important tool in the President’s communication activities. To promote debate on policy and societal issues between policy-makers, experts and society, the Bureau organises a variety of conferences, seminars and workshops. Renowned experts are invited to discuss important topics and offer advice and food for thought. Target audiences range from specialists to the general public.

Organised by BEPA and DG ECFIN
In connection with this conference, President Barroso hosted a lunch with distinguished respresentatives of think tanks, opinion leaders and editorialists from capitals across Europe. The discussion focused on the European Semester and its importance for overcoming the economic crisis, fostering structural reform and strengthening economic surveillance in the member states. The debate took place under Chatham house rule.

The European Commission, European Parliament, Club of Rome, OECD and WWF hosted this high-level conference with the objectives of clarifying which indices are most appropriate to measure progress, and how these can best be integrated into the decision-making process and taken up by public debate. The conference brought together high-level experts and policy makers to address these critical issues.
