The Directorate Mobility and Transport presents four themes close to citizens’ everyday lives:
- Road Safety- for roads with fewer accidents;
- Passenger Rights- to make travelling in the EU easier for everyone;
- Clean Fuels and a sustainable urban mobility;
- Transport infrastructure in Europe and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)
You will have the privilege to test several clean fuel vehicles stationed on the plaza such as a hydrogen car, two electric cars, a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) van and a Compressed Natural Gaz (CNG) car. Two charging stations and one LNG fuel station will also be shown.

On 4 May at 11.00 on the Berlaymont Plaza, we will analyse and discuss challenges and solutions proposed by the Commission to reduce CO2 emissions, pollutants and most of all Europe's dependence on oil. Are you aware of your passenger rights when you travel by plane, train; bus or even by boat? No matter which transport mode you choose, if your trip is cancelled or delayed you have specific rights under European law. The European Union is the only place in the world where citizens benefit of passenger rights in all transport modes.
Speaker: Mme Ruth Lopian, passenger rights unit of the Directorate-General Mobility and Transport. Representatives of the European Centre of Consumers in Belgium and of the Europe Direct Contact Centre (EDCC) will also take part in the debate.
