Extracts from the joint press conference by Dimitris Avramopoulos and Marianne Thyssen, Members of the EC, on the release of the EU Skills Profile Tool for Third-Country Nationals
On 20 June 2017, Dimitris Avramopoulos, Member of the EC in charge of Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, and Marianne Thyssen, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, gave a joint press conference on the release of the EU Skills Profile Tool for Third-Country Nationals. On the occasion of the United Nations' World Refugee Day, the European Commission launched this off – and online web editor that would make it possible for non-EU nationals to present their skills, qualifications, and experiences in a way that was well understood by employers, education and training providers and organisations working with migrants across the whole European Union. The Skills Profile Tool was a first instrument for reception centres, integration services, public employment services and other organisations offering services to non-EU nationals to make sure their skills and education were recognised, and to further guide them to training, education or employment. In addition to giving an overview of a non-EU national's skills profile, comparable with a CV, the tool helped migration organisations to identify individuals' specific needs for integration into the labour market. Ultimately this would simplify the process of matching jobseekers to vacancies. This video shows extracts of the joint press conference.
