Visit by Marianne Thyssen, Member of the EC, of the reception center for asylum seekers "Petit-Château", in Brussels: statement
On 20 June 2017, Marianne Thyssen, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, visited in Brussels the "Petit-Château" (Little Castle - Klein Kasteeltje), a reception center for asylum seekers managed by the Belgian Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (Fedasil). On the occasion of the United Nations' World Refugee Day, the European Commission launched on the same day the EU Skills Profile Tool for Third-Country Nationals, and off – and online web editor that would make it possible for non-EU nationals to present their skills, qualifications, and experiences in a way that was well understood by employers, education and training providers and organisations working with migrants across the whole European Union. The Skills Profile Tool was a first instrument for reception centres, integration services, public employment services and other organisations offering services to non-EU nationals to make sure their skills and education were recognised, and to further guide them to training, education or employment. In addition to giving an overview of a non-EU national's skills profile, comparable with a CV, the tool helped migration organisations to identify individuals' specific needs for integration into the labour market. Ultimately this would simplify the process of matching jobseekers to vacancies. This video shows a statement made by Marianne Thyssen during her visit.
