||SOUNDBITE by Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, President of the Committee of the Regions, (in SPANISH) saying that the meeting was very interesting; they've discussed the economic situation in Athens; jobs and growth creation must be based on the Europe 2020 Strategy; at the moment, the participation of the CoR is not really considered, which could be a signal of limiting the success; the CoR wanted to take part in the discussion about the Lisbon treaty and today we see that the objectives have not been reached; now we are in a very difficult period with the economic crisis; the CoR is fighting day by day, managing two thirds of the European budget, etc., so the CoR has many reasons to participate in the decision making, especially when talking about employment; from the local and regional powers they can give some rhythm to the Member States; they have things to say to get the objectives; if it is not taken into consideration, the Europe 2020 Strategy might fail;saying that the Council and the Commission received the Committee's request positively.
