Commissioner Barnier and Minister-President of Flanders, Kris Peeters, met on November 4, 2013 in Brussels. This meeting was to discuss issues related to the European public procurement law raised in the context of Oosterweel project to complete the Antwerp ring road and more specifically:
• the request of the Flemish Government about the intention to award a concession without consulting the market, to the SA Tunnel Liefkenshoek for the construction and operation by the SA Liefkenshoek Tunnel of a new link between L'Escaut and Antwerp;
• the suspended notification by the Flemish authorities to the European branch of State Aid intends to continue negotiations regarding the part 'tunnel de l'Escaut' with Noriant consortium, released as preferred bidder for the contract procedure.
