||SOUNDBITE (English) by Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC: We all stand together in wanting to see successful elections on November 3rd for people to come out, vote and participate in an important moment. We have always kept in touch on all of the ways in which we need to make sure these elections can be as successful as possible. I want to pay tribute to Prime Minister Dacic and Prime Minister Tadic for working through some of these challenging issues and also to the OSCE who has really been very helpful in working out how to make this go as well as possible. I believe we will see very successful elections. Everyone has entered into this with a great spirit of determination to see these elections being successful. I just hope that we will see people come out and just vote.
||SOUNDBITE (Serbian) by Ivica Dačić, Prime Minister of Serbia: We invite the EU to keep their faith in Serbia and to believe that what we are doing now is real and that we want to stand in a serious relationship and be a serious partner in this process. We have a two-fold goal: joining the EU as quickly as possible implementing all the criteria, and on the other hand implementing a comprehensive consolidation of our economy and financial system.
||SOUNDBITE (English) by Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, on exports of cigarettes from Croatia or EU to Serbia: We have reached an agreement with Serbia on the adaptation of the SAA. We need now to formalize the whole process. This will take some time. This has been from the beginning a neutral exercise and it does not imply any further liberalization of trade. The aim of the game was to maintain existing trade flows before Croatia joined the EU. We have reached agreement exactly within that framework.
