Lieu: Luxembourg (town), Luxembourg - Council
End production: 14/10/2013 First transmission: 14/10/2013
The EU's Ministers for Employment and Social Policy gathered today in Luxembourg. Topics for discussion were the posting of workers enforcement directive, implementation of measures to tackle youth unemployment and the social dimension of the EMU (European Monetary Union).
The European Commission is seeking the adoption of a proposed enforcement Directive on posting of workers in the European Union which would require Member States to better inform workers and companies about their rights and obligations and improve the enforcement of workers' rights; improve cooperation between national authorities in charge of posting so that they can more easily crack down on suspected cases of abuse; better define posted workers and the responsibilities of national authorities to supervise them.
The Council also discussed the state of implementation of the Youth Guarantee and the Youth Employment Initiative. Commissioner Andor was due to call on Member States to submit their national implementation plans as soon as possible.

Cooperation between administrations is a very important point. Exchange of information between administrations is another important point. But the list of administrative requirements is the most important issue at this stage and if we reach agreement on that, we will be able to go to the Parliament for further negotiations. (2 shots)
