||Statement by Joaquín Almunia, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Competition, (in ENGLISH) on aid to energy intensive users: that following the policy debate of 8 October 2013, the EC continues to prepare the public consultation on the Environmental guidelines; one of the questions that will be subject to consultation is to what extent energy intensive industries should receive compensation given high energy prices; the EC concluded that there was scope for partial compensation and that such benefits would be awarded on a temporary basis.
