Press conference by Viviane Reding following the debate on the Future of Europe, in Trieste
Type: Complete press conference
On 16 September 2013, Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, held a joint press conference with Enzo Moavero Milanesi, Italian Minister for European Affairs, after their debate with 800 citizens from Italy and its neighbour countries Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, in Trieste, Italy.
The Trieste Citizens' Dialogue was the highlight of a series of debates between citizens and leading European politicians about the key political themes for Italians. The choice of Trieste expressed the most important achievement of European integration: the overcoming of borders and the coming together of citizens from different countries in a spirit of openness, tolerance and mutual respect.
