On 28 June, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European, held the intermediary press conference of the European Council. They took major actions for combating youth unemployment and supporting SME's. Heads of state and government agreed to boost the ' Youth Guarantee program' which aims at ensuring that within four months of leaving schools or becoming unemployment every young person gets a good offer for a job , education or trainee. 'We have decided this youth initiative of 6 billion Euros will be frontloaded, it means used already in 2014 and 2015', outlined José Manuel Barroso. The leaders also focussed on facilitating access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises.. 'The aim is to increase synergies between the EU budget and the EU Investment Bank in order to leverage private investment to finance millions of SME's', underlined Herman Van Rompuy.
