Visit of Ricardo Martinelli, President of Panama, to José Manuel Barroso: arrival and round table
Type: Visit to the Commission
Brussels - EC/Berlaymont
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received the visit of Ricardo Martinelli, President of Panama, on 30 May 2013 in Brussels.
The two men discussed the EU/Panama relations. The visit reflected EU's and Panama's will of strengthening their ties through the EU/Central America Association Agreement. The EU/Central America Association Agreement is the first region-to-region Association Agreement concluded by the EU. It was signed in June 2012 and covers all aspects of the relationship – political dialogue, cooperation and trade. The European Parliament gave its consent to the Agreement in December 2012 and ratification in Central American countries is on-going.
