||SOUNDBITE by Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, (in FRENCH) saying that the triad 'security, democracy, and development' is essential; the hard lesson learned from the Malian crisis in the short term is that without security, nothing is possible; saying that he would like to reiterate the determination the EU to support this course of action; the number of countries present at the conference, some from very far, is sending a very strong signal of the support of the international community; it is a symbol of their interdependence and of their solidarity. ||SOUNDBITE by José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, (in FRENCH) saying that the European Commission has allocated a budget of over 520 million euro (about 677 million dollar) for the period 2013-2014, thus contributing to the priorities defined by the Malian authorities in their "sustainable recovery plan for Mali" which is part of the implementation of the roadmap for the transition; but, first, there can be no sustainable political and economic success without a stable environment; this is why the European Union, through the African Peace Facility, contributed 50 million euro to support the African-led International Support Mission to Mali. ||SOUNDBITE by François Hollande, President of the French Republic, (in FRENCH) saying that the final requirement is transparency and dialogue; saying that he said that the elections should be held on the date scheduled and that the Malian authorities must have full control of their territory to ensure the conduct of this process at the end of July; he also says, with the same relationship of trust and truth, that transparency and good governance have to be ensured; every euro spent in favour of the development of Mali must be effectively used; they owe it to Mali; they also owe it to the taxpayers who help Mali through their States.
||SOUNDBITE by Dioncounda Traoré, President of Mali ad interim, (in FRENCH) saying that the Malian authorities came to tell that the war being fought in northern Mali will be a war as clean as possible and that they will ensure that there will be no abuse or reprisals or violation of the rights and dignity of persons; anyone, civilians and militaries, guilty of such acts will be held accountable before national or international courts; saying that they also reaffirm their commitment to dialogue, a deep and sincere dialogue.
