||SOUNDBITE by José Manuel Barroso (in FRENCH) saying that a first series of initiatives is already underway and includes support for humanitarian actions; saying that he would like to emphasize that the EU calls on all parties to protect civilians and to respect international humanitarian law and human rights; other initiatives include establishing links between humanitarian interventions and those of development, promoting sustainable access to drinking water and sanitation or even supporting the country's stability by encouraging the electoral process and contributing to projects aiming to strengthen law enforcement, security forces and judicial services.
||SOUNDBITE by François Hollande (in FRENCH) saying that peace has to be restored; this is achievable because the Malians will organize their elections at the planned date, because they gathered around the principle of good governance, and also because all the resources that will be allocated to development will be monitored and will be allocated where they are most needed: water, infrastructure, aid to the population.
||SOUNDBITE by Dioncounda Traoré (in FRENCH) saying that this conference was a major success and made it possible for Mali to express its gratitude to those who helped the country when it most needed; it also made it possible for Mali to thank its brothers and friends of Africa and to thank the EU as well as all those who contributed to the realization of this conference, which allowed to speak about renewed development; finally, it was an opportunity to thank François Hollande and France.
