10:01:05 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that the village of Bódvalenke with its murals and the exhibition in Pécs in 2010 can show very well and actually prove in a very fine way that art is creating activity that is there in this Roma community. 00:00:12
10:01:17 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that, however, these fantastic murals are in a crying conflict with the reality that surrounds us with this every day poverty of the Roma and the very high rate of unemployment among them. 00:00:14
10:01:31 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that this type of contradiction between high culture and poverty doesn't need responses but rather acts, very definite and very target oriented acts. 00:00:12
10:01:43 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that that's why they adopted the programme and during the Hungarian presidency, they outlined the programme and actually adopted the decision that a framework should be created that would create all the necessary conditions for overcoming this poverty and to make sure that the new generations do not suffer from that. 00:00:30
10:02:14 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that the question is whether Brussels always knows everything better than people living on the spot; Brussels is really far away from Bódvalenke, about 1600 km away; so the answer is no. 00:00:14
10:02:29 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that all the politicians, all the MPs, all the representatives of the different organizations should have open ears to the problems of these areas and be the communicators of these problems and be convinced of how important it is to do something about this area to put things in order. 00:00:28

10:03:41 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that a pool of different resources needs to be created; all the resources must be mobilized to make sure that these different areas like public education and public health can be developed. 00:00:21
10:04:02 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that this is not a unique Hungarian problem; there are other minority populations like the Roma living in neighbouring countries - Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia; it's very important to make sure that these programmes are launched in these countries too. 00:00:21
10:04:24 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that there are certain points where one is simply unable to make any mistake; this is for instance the kindergarten programme; they need to make sure that as many Roma children as possible can go to kindergarten and can actually be integrated with Hungarian children when they reach school age. 00:00:19
10:04:43 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that once it is made sure that this programme can be fulfilled, then it is not naive to believe that very soon these populations can expect better conditions and better circumstances in their lives than today. 00:00:20
10:05:04 Statement by László Andor (in HUNGARIAN) saying that cooperation is necessary between Member States' governments, EU organizations, local governments and organizations and all the different actors who can have a role to play in this process. 00:00:14
