Type: Best-of   Référence: I071884   Durée: 42:21  Lieu: Brussels - Council/Justus Lipsius
On 9 December 2011, Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, Polish Prime Minister, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Jerzy Buzek, President of the EP, Ivo Josipovic, President of Croatia, and Jadranka Kosor, Prime Minister of Croatia, participated, in Brussels, in the signature ceremony of the accession treaty of Croatia among the 27 EU heads of state or government. The accession treaty signature followed an all-night session of the European summit focused on strengthening the EU economic convergence and fiscal discipline. Croatia will become the 28th member of the EU in July 2013 after ratification by the legislatures of the bloc's 27 member nations. Croatia's entry talks lasted seven years and were held up repeatedly due to territorial disputes with neighbouring Slovenia and demands that it arrest remaining war crimes suspects. Croatia will become the second nation from the former Yugoslavia to join the EU after Slovenia became a member in 2004.
