Visite de Peer Baneke, secrétaire général du Conseil européen sur les réfugiés et exilés, à Franco Frattini
Type: Visite à la Commission
Bruxelles - CE/Berlaymont
Peer Baneke, Secretary General of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles, visited Franco Frattini, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security. They held an exchange of views on EU asylum agenda, and in particular on the latest tragic events that occurred at the border between Spain and Morocco last October, when Moroccan and Spanish civil guards allegedly opened fire and killed 14 sub-Saharans who had managed to enter the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Mellila. In a statement to the Council, ECRE had urged Member States to respect fundamental rights in a comprehensive approach to asylum and illegal immigration. ECRE is an umbrella organisation of 76 refugee-assisting agencies in 30 countries working towards fair and human policies for the treatment of asylum seekers and refugees.
