00:00:16 SOUNDBITE (English): Elisa FERREIRA (S&D, PT), rapporteur: "Yesterday we were able to exchange points of view, to discuss advantages and disadvantages of each position, so what we have agreed is on topics to be discussed. And we will be waiting for the proposals from the Council and on the 19th we will be sitting again and trying to strike a deal, we will see if it is possible." 00:00:24
00:00:40 SOUNDBITE (English): Elisa FERREIRA (S&D, PT), rapporteur: "From the point of view from the Parliament there are essential things that we have said since the beginning and that should be there and these are: no political interference in managing a failing bank and to decide how to manage it, to have a complete non -engagement of the tax payers money into the process of paying for costs of restructuring a failing bank, what we call bailing-in, allocation of cost to shareholders to the creditors and a lot of equal treatment for banks from whatever (EU) country they come from. So we need really a Single resolution mechanism, this is the target, this is the objective, how can we move to get there, that is the critical thing. And of course we are departing from very divergent point of view in which these elements were not present. " 00:01:02
00:01:42 SOUNDBITE (English): Elisa FERREIRA (S&D, PT), rapporteur: "We have to make a deal and the Parliament said since the beginning, we don't want a deal we want a credible, decent, good deal that reaches these 3 elements, which the Parliament had set very clearly on the table." 00:00:18
00:02:00 SOUNDBITE (English): Elisa FERREIRA (S&D, PT), rapporteur: "So we are really running fast, but that cannot be a reason to be less demanding on the quality of the agreement." 00:00:08
