00:01:39 SOUNDBITE (German) by H.E. Mr Martin Schulz: Ladies and gentleman, we need to be aware of the fact that we can only be strong together. This goes not only for peace but also for economy. Allow me to state some numbers: in 2050 the inhabitants of Europe will represent 5.4 per cent of the world popularity and in 2050 Germany, my home country will no longer be a member of the G7 group and in this same year the triad of India, the USA and China will probably rule the world economy. The world is changing and we need to consider if we want to stay competitive and if we want to compete with the world regions as the Chinese president Xi Jinping calls them, then I have to say that also my strong country, Germany, will not be able to cope with this on its own. 00:00:57

00:02:37 SOUNDBITE (German) by H.E. Mr Martin Schulz: I believe that this new principle needs to be implemented. And ladies and gentlemen, I also believe that we should take necessary measures to improve unemployment rates of young people. I already said that. We have billions and billions to stabilise banks and the monetary system, while our children are unemployed. How should then people trust the institutions, also the European institutions? And this is why we should do everything to give work to the youth and with this we should also overcome the situation where banks are not giving out loans to companies anymore. 00:00:38
