||SOUNDBITE (English) Maria Da Graça CARVALHO, (EPP, PT): "We need to continue with austerity, with the consolidation of the public finances, but at the same time we need to have measures that create the conditions for growth. We cannot have only one or the other. We need to create an environment that is friendly for investments, for innovation, for businesses... less bureaucracy, the viability of credit, so that the banks can finance the real economy."
||SOUNDBITE (English) Maria Da Graça CARVALHO, (EPP, PT ),: "We probably need a catalytic effect, something that triggers the change in the growth. I am confident that the new European budget that will start in January 2014, if well applied in the areas that are important for growth, like research, innovation, support of SMEs.. can have this trigger effect to help growth start faster"
||SOUNDBITE (English) Sylvana RAPTI, (S&D, EL) : "I think that the solution for jobs is within the European framework and this is crucial. At the same time we need growth, we need a better Europe, and a Europe who will apply all the rules to all the countries. I think that young people have the right to have a job, and I think that the European answer of the Youth Guarantee is a first step, but not enough, we need more".
||SOUNDBITE (English) Thodoros SKYLAKAKIS, (ALDE EL) : "Young people are the issue here; they are unemployed, they don't have opportunities, they are without future.. To change that we need to change the way we think in Europe, we need more Europe, more solidarity but also more efficiency, that's our message, more solidarity but also more efficiency".
||SOUNDBITE (English) Takis HADJIGEORGIOU, GUE/NGL, CY: "We are also critic towards Europe, so we are on the same line with the youngsters. I was happy to see them in front of us delivering their opinions and giving us new dimensions. Acting, reacting on what the EP do".
||SOUNDBITE (English) Takis HADJIGEORGIOU, , GUE/NGL, CY: "We need at least 3,4, 5 leftist progressive European governments to create a new Europe. If we can't do that, then youngsters will continue facing the same problems they are facing today".
