00:00:36 SOUNDBITE (English) Martin SCHULZ, EP President: "Alexander and Pat presented to the Conference of Presidents the proposal of the draft letter on behalf of YuliaTymoshenko and in close cooperation with her; the draft letter could be sent to President of Ukraine with the goal for what we call 'a partial pardon' which could lead to the possibility of Ms Tymoshenko to leave the country for medical treatment in Germany, after 2 years in jail. This is what we call the humanitarian contribution to find a solution for a very delicate inter-dependent diplomatic problem". 00:00:58
00:01:34 SOUNDBITE (English) Aleksander KWASNIEWSKI: "During our many many months we discussed all possible scenarios and we hope that we are closer to find the scenario which is realistic and which is accepted by three sides, as we should speak about the government of Ukraine, about Ms Tymoshenko and about the EU. We have three very important partners to find a final concept. About optimism or pessimism.. I am working with Ukraine quite a long time, since the independence I can say, and I know that in my cooperation with Ukraine Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I am optimist, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I am pessimist and Sundays I am thinking: what will happen next week?". 00:00:46
00:02:20 SOUNDBITE (English) Pat COX: "The conditions for signature of the association agreement (between the EU and Ukraine) were set by the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU in December 2012. These conditions were not set by our mission but we've worked on these conditions. We reported today in our opinion, these conditions, especially as regards YuliaTymoshenko, still remain to be fulfilled. After 16 months and 22 mission visits, we concluded that at this point in time further work is required to ensure compliance and we are determined to work with the Ukrainian authorities and with Ms Tymoshenko and her legal advisors to seek to achieve the compliance as regards the outstanding conditions". 00:00:47
