EP President Martin SCHULZ held a meeting with David USUPASHVILI, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia. EU-Georgia bilateral relations are regulated by the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) which entered into force on 1 July 1999. The EU has provided €6 million in humanitarian aid for people affected by the conflict in Georgia. An international donor's conference for assisting Georgia's economic recovery was held in Brussels on 22 October 2008. A civilian European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia was deployed on 1 October 2008.
