EP President Martin SCHULZ held a meeting with Ivica Dačić, Prime Minister of Serbia. Serbia is a candidate country for EU membership as of 2012 and several agreements ensure close collaboration with the EU. The debates takes place days after the governments of Serbia and Kosovo have accepted a plan which translates into practice the provisions of the April Agreement. This agreement foresees the creation of a separate ethnic Serb justice and police apparatus inside Kosovo's majority-Albanian government structures. Moreover, a European partnership with Serbia provides support to the Serbian authorities by identifying areas where further reforms are required.
