Soundbite (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "More needed than ever is mutual trust between the institutions and the member states and between the member states and the institutions. I think the European Parliament crossed all the different political tendencies and gave me a mandate to express once more the solidarity with the Republic of Cyprus. We all now how difficult the situation in the country is.''
||Soundbite (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "In Nicosia I felt, as a citizen living in the country with a well going economy, how difficult the life can become in times of crises and how difficult it is to manage such a crisis. In the inter-connected world in which we are living, in our common European market, in our European Union we need the spirit of solidarity. And therefore, the European Parliament and I will raise a point, we will make an appeal that all measures, especially in the frame of European budget will be used to support Cyprus and to try to stabilize the economic and social situation in the country.''
||Nikos ANASTASIADIS, President of Cyprus ''As you know, the Eurogroup last week endorsed ESMS decision for the release of the first tranche of financial assistance to Cyprus. It is important that our partners have recognised the sincere efforts of the government and of the people of Cyprus and I assure that we will continue to deliver on our commitments. Once again, I don't want to say a lot of, but what I would like to is just to thank for the support I have had from the president bearing in mind his decisiveness to prove that Europe solidarity is going to be implemented in the case of Cyprus, something which not have happened during the first and the second Eurogroup meetings of last month.''
||Soundbite (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "The fight against tax fraud and tax evasion is for sure one of the most important projects in short term time the European Union has to manage.''
