Memoclip on the occasion of the abdication of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the hand the crown to her son, Prince Willem-Alexander, on 30 April. By her frequent visits to European institutions, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was able to show her commitment to the European Construction. On two occasions, she has had the opportunity to take the floor in front of the European Parliament during formal sittings. In 1984, she was the first crowned Head of a Member State of the European Community to adress to the European Assembly. Each time, her statements were the opportunity to express her commitment for the European integration as representative of a founding member.
