On 15 arch 2013, Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, embarked on a two-day visit to Tunis to reiterate continuing support of the European Union for the democratic transition in the country. He stressed that the EU trusts that Tunisian stakeholders will be able to overcome the current crisis and progress towards the approval of the Constitution and the organisation of elections.
During his stay in Tunis, Štefan Füle met with Rached Ghannouchi, President of the Ennahda Movement and Houcine Abassi, Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT). Štefan Füle also signed two contracts to finance actions on preventing gender violence and improving the performance of the justice sector in the area of juvenile delinquency.
