Visit of José Manuel Barroso to Morocco

On 1st March 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Cecilia Malmström, Member of the EC in charge of Home Affairs, went to Morocco and met with the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, in Rabat. On this occasion, José Manuel Barroso also met with Karim Ghellab, Speaker of the Lower House of the Moroccan Parliament, and Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, Speaker of the House of Advisors of Morocco. They held discussions on the following subjects: internal affairs, bilateral relations and the geopolitical situation in the region. The launch of negotiations on a new Free Trade Agreement was also announced.
