"The big picture there is growth and jobs and you should not forget this big objective. We have our defensive points, all sensitive points are there and the data protection services of general economic interest, cultural diversity, SFS - standards on food safety. All of them are very much underscored in my report. Still, we should not forget that what is at stake is so great that while keeping our very little room for threat ability in some areas, if any, I think that still what is there is so big that we should not miss this opportunity. It would be going against our deepest interests, namely to fight and give a stimulus to our economy, a very cheap one, because it won't cost much money to our tax payers, it would cost only a loss of revenue from import duties. But I think I am very much convinced, and this was my big preoccupation in this report not to forget what is really at stake here and to convince my colleagues, and I think I was very successful, that we need to be very supportive of launch of negotiations and then scrutinize and monitor the negotiations. I cannot tell in advance that I will support the agreement. It depends on whether it is a good one or otherwise. I feel confident that it will."
