"Ladies and Gentlemen, 2 bombs went esterday off in Boston killing several people and injured several more. Innocent lives have been lost at a sports event, the Boston marathon brings togehter people from around the world, in a city in which like no other symbolises America's desire for freedom and justice.
On behalf of the European Parliament, I extend a hart felt condolences to the families of the victims and wish those injured a speedy recovery. I pay tribute to the US authorities and emergency services. At this stage it is unclear and to early to say who planted and detonated the bombs, yet I state clearly that terrorism can never be justified. We stand together with our American friends. Our thoughts go out to the peopleof Boston, to the victims and their families. "
