On 15 February, Commissioner Štefan Füle chaired today the second Trilateral Ministerial between the European Commission, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the last outstanding border management issues in light of the accession of Croatia to the EU. The Commissioner, Vesna Pusic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, and Zlatko Lagumdzija, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a press point afterwards. Commissioner Fule explained that the Commission proposes a special transit regime for exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Croatian Port of Ploče. Thanks to this special regime, vast majority of export and import of agricultural products of animal origin will continue as before entry of Croatia to the EU. This regime will be applicable from 1 July 2013 until Bosnia and Herzegovina itself meets the EU standards. The list as it will stand on 1 July can be further amended on a case by case basis, based on Bosnia and Herzegovina's evolving trade needs.

00:02:36 SOUNDBITE (in English) Vesna Pusic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia: This is a project that Croatia sees at a joint project for Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. And as a project that carries positive elements for both sides. In this way we approached it. As for construction, there will be 50 to 60 borders crossing points of different categories ranging from special border crossing points where animals will be able to cross where we have vetenary points and also local borders crossing points. 00:00:47
