The Council took place on Friday 15 Febrary, under the chairmanship of the
Irish minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn TD , and was devoted to education items
In the context of the European Semester and in particular the education aspects of the 2013 Annual
Growth Survey, the Council was expected to
- adopt conclusions on investing in education and training, in response to the recent
Commission communication "Rethinking Education";
- held a policy debate, in public deliberation, on "Education and Skills for Jobs, Stability
Ministers had also an exchange of views with the social partners on some of the
issues discussed during the Council meeting.
