On 29 January, Grete Faremo, Norwegian Minister of Justice and Public Security, took part in the High Level Conference on "Empowering local actors to prevent violent extremism". The Commission hosts this High-Level Conference to bolster the EU and Member States' efforts to broaden engagement to prevent violent extremism and support local actors to build more resilient societies. Ministers and other high level policy makers will be invited to discuss several aspects of radicalisation with RAN members. The main topics which will be addressed in the plenary sessions and discussed in more detail during parallel break-out sessions are: The role of local actors in preventing violent extremism; Role of Diasporas in the process of violent extremism and their engagement in its prevention; and Communication on violent extremism, and counter-messaging via Internet. All working groups of the RAN will be present and interact with the policy makers in order to create policy recommendations.
