Presidents Shimon PERES, of Israel; and Rosen PLEVNELIEV, of Bulgaria, met today in the European Parliament. This meeting was held in the framework of the Righteous Among the Nations and in the context of the 70th Anniversary of the Rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during World War II. The Righteous Among the Nations is an honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis. This meeting takes place after the inquiry into the terror attack in Bulgaria on July last year in which six people were killed, five of them Israelis. The Shiite militia Hezbollah was finally accused of this bombing and this has created several pressures on the EU to formally design Hebollah, in control of Libano's government, as a terrorist group.
