The EP Subcommittee on Human Rights Jointly with the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs held an exchange of views with a delegation from the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the actual situation of the country. Later in January, MEPs condemned in a resolution the violations of human rights that were taking place in the country. Since the first protests against the Bahrain regime started at the beginning of 2011, which were violently repressed by the government, there has been no rest for the people. The Arab Spring in this country seemed to have, in addition to the protests against violations of human rights, a special anger at discrimination against the Shia majority by the Sunni al-Khalifa dynasty.
